This book is on the conversion of St Maur’s Church in Rush, Co. Dublin into a public library. The Rush Library project involved the careful conservation of the existing building and designing a new reversible wooden ‘form’ inside it which allowed it to work as a library, providing rooms and niches for reading and learning.
The book is about building conservation - which is at the heart of the sustainable ideal - but also about the principle of innovative re-use in Ireland, how change can be interesting and as well as respectful of existing fabric. It include essays by Raymund Ryan and Niall McCullough, along with photographs and drawings.
