Valerie Mulvin will be delivering the keynote address at the Irish Georgian Society and Dublin Civic Trust's conference DUBLIN 2025: a city in crisis or a golden opportunity? on Wednesday 7th May in the City Assembly House at 9:30am.

Valerie's talk is titled The Future of the Past - a project of recovery? Niall McCullough's 'Dublin An Urban History, and Dublin - Creation, Occupation, Destruction'. Niall McCullough's architectural analysis of Dublin's development in his book Dublin - An Urban History understood the city's past structure has always underwritten its future. His final book, Dublin - Creation, Occupation, Destruction, documented how the city was created, the unintended way it was used and how it was destroyed in our lifetime as an authentic city of people. Valerie will discuss these two works and their potential to frame a future vision for the city
