Valerie Mulvin at RIAI Conference 2025: Cities, Towns, Neighbourhoods - 8th October 2025

Valerie Mulvin will be speaking at the RIAI Annual Conference on 8th October 2025 at 2:15pm in the RDS.
This year’s conference theme, ‘Cities, Towns, Neighbourhoods’, focuses on the places where we live, work and connect which form the bedrock of our society, culture and economy. However, these places face serious challenges, including a shortage of affordable housing, vacancy and dereliction, and the growing impact of climate change. With Ireland’s population continuing to grow, these issues are becoming increasingly urgent. To address them, the conference will explore innovative architectural, planning, and governance solutions, drawing on the expertise of leading practitioners and thought leaders from Ireland and abroad.
Valerie will speak on Day 1 of the Conference, drawing on many decades of built work and research into Irish towns, including books such as A Lost Tradition (with Niall McCullough) and Approximate Formality, Morphology of Irish Towns. She will also discuss The Reason of Towns exhibition (with The Irish Architecture Foundation and AP+E), which won an RIAI Research Award.
