President Connolly to Officially Open No. 11 Parnell Square - 7th May 2026

No. 11 Parnell Square will be officially opened by President Connolly at a special event on Thursday 7th May 2026.

McCullough Mulvin have been working with Irish Heritage Trust and Poetry Ireland over a number of years to transform and conserve this historic building. The design provides a new home for both organisations, along with a new cultural and event space for the city, including the Seamus Heaney Library, which houses the late Laureate’s private collection.

The work involved careful conservation of the unique historic fabric and interiors of No. 11, which was once one of the largest and earliest residences on the square, and was later used as the headquarters of Dublin County Council. Sensitive interventions upgrade accessibility and fire standards, including a new brick-clad lift enclosure, a beautiful piece of contemporary craftsmanship which acknowledges the bow-ended form of the original rere elevation.

The opening of No. 11 restores one of the Dublin’s most striking architectural spaces to the public, and marks the beginning of a significant new contribution to the cultural life of the city.
