Crow's Nest Student Housing On Site

Crow's Nest Student Housing On Site

Work has commenced on site for the new Crow’s Nest Student Accommodation for University College Cork.

The development will provide 254 individual student bedrooms, along with social facilities, a campus wellness centre and shop at ground level, which will generate new activity in surrounding streets. The new landmark cluster of towers at the Victoria Cross junction creates a gateway marking the entrance to the historic urban core of the city.

Four tall blocks of student living spaces rise from a podium garden, a fifth smaller tower acts as a portal from ground to podium level. Each tower footprint is configured as a pair of student apartments, each comprising a sociable four bedrooms and a kitchen. The ground floor has a permeable, indented edge to create entrances and public space while engaging with the street edge. At upper levels, voids between the new towers allow light and views through the urban blocks and maintain remarkable views across the Lee Valley to Shanakiel Ridge.

The project is due for completion in July 2021. Click here to see a video of work on site so far.
